My N95 is driving me to distraction. It slows to a crawl or even a complete halt all the time during any number of operations. It crashes all the time and becomes completely unresponsive to the point I have to remove the battery to switch it off in order to switch it back on again. The web browser can only ever manage a couple of pages before giving the message "Web: No gateway reply". When this occurs there is no chance of further browsing without switching the phone off and back on again. My Netgear router happily communicates wirelessly with several other computers in the house. I was very excited about getting an N95 but having had it for three days I''m on the verge of sending it back. Any ideas?

Having had a day to think about it, I'm pretty sure that all my problems are related to the WLAN in the phone crashing. From trawling the forums I know this is by no means a unique experience.

Here are my details:

Phone:
New O2 pay monthly sim

The phone gives this information In WLAN wiz, but if browsing is attempted I get the message "WLAN Unable to connect. WLAN network not found.

Network: Sky
Signal: Strong (100%)
Mode: Infrastructure
Security: Open network
Coverage: 1 access point
Speed: 54 Mbit/s

Router: Netgear DG834GT

Wireless Settings

Wireless Network
Name (SSID): Sky
Region:  Europe
Channel:08
Mode:  g & b

Wireless Access Point
 Enable Wireless Access Point
 Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)

Security Options
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)

I have tried disabling security, it makes no difference.

i've got a pretty good idea of whats wrong.

its ur security authentication, which is 'open'. change it to shared. it should make all the difference. let us know if that helped.

Finally, after two weeks of frustration, the solution from Plx (all respect due) at 3G Forum:

Settings > Connection > Wireless LAN > Options > Advanced Settings (yes) > Auto config (deactivate) > Power Saving > Off

The most important part of the changes above is "Power Saving > Off" - it seems that that Nokia's idea of power saving is "if the user doesn't press a button for a second then turn WLAN off"  Roll Eyes

Hello,

Just got an N95, Pretty fed up with it already. Took ages to get the MMS settings sorted. I have tried everything but can't connect WLAN, Power save disabled etc, Have input my IP address, although Proxy Port reads 0 is this correct ? Help please. Daughter may end up with this phone and back to K800I for me !! I get the Gateway message each time I try to connect.
