What is SIM FREE

Can anyone tell me what means SIM FREE?
I want to buy nokia n95 via eBay and there are many nokia n95 SIM FREE advertisements. Huh

Sim free means that the mobile doesn't come with a sim card (network connection) so you can connect it to any network provider you choose. Orange, Vodafone etc…….. Or pay as you go

i.e the phone is not network locked to a specific operater.
