Did your N95 not come with a software CD? Everything you need should be on there...

Try downloading the Nokia PC Suite from the Nokia website...

What version of Windows are you running (if you are using Windows)?

I installed the software from the cd which did not work. Downloaded the latest pc suite from nokia website still the same. I just get the message device has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it. I have tried to connect the phone to my PC which has vista and also my laptop which has XP and I get the same result. Is there an update for the phone itself, Thanks for your help

It sounds like a firmware bug - specific to O2 branded N95's?

Do O2 brand the N95 at all (custom menu etc)  Huh

I too am on Vodafone and had problems with the driver Cd
I uninstalled the software from my pc as it failed to install certain files.

And the downloaded the newest software from Nokia.
Nokia PC suite workes great and when i plug in my phone via usb everything works no problem.

I'm on O2 and had 1 connectivity problem as you discuss here.
Fixed it by plugging in N95, the phone will automatically ask what connection type you want.
I then had to do the following for both phone and data connections.
click to activate whichever one then on you PC use the unplug hardware icon, then your phone will be back to normal.
I think the N95 has an issue with the cable being unplugged while connected.
It makes sense to always software disconnect first before disconnecting any media!
or use Bluetooth as this has inbuilt connectivity dropout protection Smiley

Since the introduction of the original N95-1, several updated versions have been released as well: The N95 8GB with 8 gigabytes of internal storage and a larger display, the N95 NAM and the N95 8GB NAM with support for North American UMTS (3G) bands, and finally the lower cost N95-5 and N95-6 for the Chinese market.
Featuring the internal name RM-245, the N95-5 is targeted at the Chinese market. The main difference from the regular N95 is the lack of any 3G connectivity support, which has not been yet adopted in China at the time of release [24], and the absence of WLAN connectivity, due to Chinese regulations.
