I went on to the Nokia website to check for updates for my just purchased N95 8GB. It asked me for the code found inside behind the battery, no problems, I punched in the code. It gave me the version that starts with 11?

Is this right? My phone does match. I have checked and I have the version that starts with 11. I read on this website that people are talking about a version that starts with 20?
Am I missing something?

When I start Nokia Updater it keeps telling me that I have the latest software version 11.2.11

Yet I see that on this forum we are up to 30.....

Hiyah, if your phone has the auto rotate for the screen, as in when you put your phone horizontal from vertical the screen shifts as well. If you have this funcion you have the  latest software. I personally cant explain the version numbers to you as i havnt got a clue, but the rotate me program was only introduced in V30. hope this helps.

My screen rotates when I put the slider to the "video" player. It will not rotate just from me tilting the unit itself.

In your "personal signature" on your post, I see v30.0.15.
Mine is at 11.2.11.
Yet the software updater telsl me that I am up to date. Are you guys putting this v30.0.15 on yur N95 8GB's whithout Nokia knowing, or is the v30 something that nokia has distributed?

I thank you for the pm and the websites that you mentioned. Although I had the updater one. That is where it is telling me that it is up to date with11.2.11.

Hi i updated my software the other day i had version 20.0.016 which had auto rotate. i now have version 30.0.018 just plug phone into pc suite click on nokia software updater ( a green square ) it will ask you to install the newest verion of the updater then back up your phone data you want to keep, and run it, it was that easy all data was still on my phone after update but wouldn`t count on it. Hope this helps

This is my problem...

When I go through the process with the Nokia updater software, it keeps telling me that the phone is up to date with version 11.2.11.

I don`t know i had v20.0.016 from new.
When you press *#0000# what RM do you get mine is
RM-320
Nokia N95 (93.02)

I know the n95 (silver) is different
RM-159
Nokia N95 (01-01)

You may have an old 8gb if so you can change your product code to fool nokia.
Go to  How-To's and Tutorials > Howto Debrand your N95 / N95 8GB Phone
follow instructions

I have changed the product code like you suggested, the phone still wont update. Still tells me that it is up to date at 11.2.11.

Can anyone please shed some light on this??
I just want to update the phone to the latest software.

Sounds like your phone is a newer model than ours so your software may be up to date and the same as our v30. what version of nokia maps do you have mine is now v2.0 w26, go into maps press options, about and its at the top. I did have version 1 before update. I don`t know how else to tell them apart easily. One other thing is your phone a uk model if not then you will be looking at different software versions.

I am in Canada and the phone was purchased here. If that makes a difference, I do not know.

When I go into Maps, and about....

It tells me this...

I thank you for the info....

Unfortunately, I am not having any luck on updating.
I tried your code, and the code supplied within the debranding instructions, and still get the "no updates for your phone" message!

Very frustrating!
Not sure if the fact that I am in Canada has anything to do with it?
