Debranding your N95 or N95 8GB

Have a look here and follow the instructions. Make sure to follow the correct product code for your phone

IMPORTANT Read THIS Thread BEFORE Proceeding!

Firstly if you want to check what is the latest Firmware release for your N95 without having to wait for NSU (Nokia Software Updater), you can enter your product code at this web site and it will check for you Click Me!

Now to the point... if you want to upgrade your N95 firmware but NSU says there is not an available update for your particular version then a quick 5 min fix will get you that so-needed update.

Step 1
Download b-phreaks Nemesis Service Suit from Click Here
Step 2
Install Nemesis (Just click next at USB Virtual Drive)
Step 3
Open Nemesis
Step 4
Connect N95 to PC via USB cable and choose 'PC Suite' mode
Step 5
Click the little magnifying glass icon (Scan For New Device)
Step 6
Click on the 'Phone Info' Icon
Step 7
Click 'Read'
Step 8
'Enable' Product Code
Step 9
Change Product code and press 'Write'
Step 10
Exit NSS
Step 11
Run NSU
Step 12
Throw a "I just updated my firmware party"

Edit: I advise you to reset your Product code after the upgrade... Original code is printed on the white label inside the battery compartment... This is in case the handset needs to be sent for repair and you are either unable or forget to alter it before doing so.

DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE AT ANY TIME DURING THE UPGRADE PROCESS!

Read this thread to decide for yourself whether to flash the firmware of an Orange or Voda phone.

After upgrading, you are strongly advised to re-install from back-up, ONLY the contacts list and NOTHING ELSE! ... I'd also advise you to format your memory-card (or additional memory) before doing the firmware update... The reason being that software in the memory may try and access the phone as it boots up with changed firmware, which can cause problems, far safer to rebuild the phone & your memory-contents as though the phone was new, and in a 'just out of the box' state.... Hi,

I've followed all the steps carefully but when running the NSU application, it always says that I currently have the last version, even after changing the product code.

My N95 is in Mexico, shall I perform additional steps?

Thanks in advance for your support!

Do you have the N95 or the N95 8gb, please specify. if you change the code to euro 1 then go through the NSU PROGRAM IT WILL UPDATE, AFTER IT HAS DONE THAT CHANGE IT BACK TO WHAT CODE IT SAYS ON THE white label under the battery

Hi,

sorry if I forgot to specify the model, it is a N95, not the 8gB one.

Thanks in advance!

yamster39, thanks too much, I did it but unfortunatelly it did not work.
Later I tried with code 0551733 and it worked!!!!
Now i have version:
V20.2.011

RM-160
Is it possible to make an update now to a newer verion like yours (v30.0.015)? How?
Thanks in advance!

yep it is, do the same procedure, play about with the different codes you got above, it wont hurt your phone....remember though to put the code back to the original one of your phone once completed..

Keep us informed

Hi,
I have an N95 with Orange.  I tried debranding once before and managed to upgrade my phone to v20, but I then found line would not work at all.  Is there a way round this?  I would like to debrand and upgrade my phone to the latest firmware but cannot afford to lose line 2.  Thanks.

can i suggest you go back into your phone and enable the function that allows you to select another call whilst on the phone, cos it may have been reset when you upgraded..not sure what its called

might be call waiting on the phone i think, once found i think that will enable line 2 again...
