Hi all,

i am a newb so bare with me, i bought the N 95 because i liked the idea of the gps, i like running and golf and i found a couple of apps that use the gps that sounded brilliant... i just got my bill and the gprs was as much as my phone calls!! Angry i am gutted !

My question is this do you have to be connected via wap etc for the gps to work because if thats the case then i cant see the point in these apps?? if it costs me 5 quid for 15 mins to tell me how far i ran or how far my drive was then i will give it a miss, as i am sure most people would.. wouldnt they?? i went for a ride on my bike and put the sports tracker on for er.. 2 hours.. OMG.. the other day, i am dreading my next bill because this was after the cut off date, i might have to leave the country

what on earth is the point?? same with the golf obviously at these prices to have it on for a round would cost you more than the green fees!! When i fired the apps up they ask what access point you are using so being a bit ignorant i picked one and well,  as i said i just got my bill through..  i am praying that i just messed up otherwise i would never of got the phone cos its just pointless and absolutely extortionate!!

i am raging!! also when i got the phone there was no mention of the cost or possible cost and as i never used these features on a phone before how was i to know?? instead of £40 my bill is £120 i will have to sell the bloody thing to pay for the next bill when i went on my 2 hour jaunt ahhh well, i am an old fool
thanks for listening people grrrrrrrrr

You do not need GPRS or any network connection to use sat nav.
Go to www.smart2go.com from your home or work computer - not GPRS !
Now and download the map loader.
and whatever maps you can spare the memory card space for eg:
UK is 132MB - full street maps
   Europe is 1.3GB!
The beauty here is you can load them as you go, so if you are off on holiday to france you can load up france before you leave then delet it off afterwards.

The maps are a little old but still verry usefull and enables fuull UK street search etc!

Once you have downloaded and installed the map loader and selected your maps, connect you N95 and waz it accross to your phone.

After this use !maps>options>settings>Network>use network=never! to turn off your network connection during maps as you just don't need it!
